Rooney actually didn't do anything to Ronaldo, I watched the film footage carefully. Ronaldo provoked him after having displayed some false histrionics. Ok, Rooney was unwise to push him in front of the ref. But the ref. should have been wick enough to realise what had gone on and perhaps given him a yellow card only. Rooney is passionate and was already frustrated by being isolated in attack. A wiser Rooney would have held back and got even with Ronaldo nearer the end ot the match. But then, the heat of the moment.

He's a over paid immature boy who can't control his temper. Whilst tackling for the ball, he lost control and lashed out at one of the Portuguese players on the floor, almost stamping on his nads! That is at the very least a yellow card, because he missed, but he got a red because the intent was there, and he then argued with his Man Utd team mate Portuguese player Rinaldo. The two incidents made the ref. issue a red card.
With idiots like this playing for England it's little wonder we have a thug culture. Don't these people get any life coaching to control their aggression? Ooops a question in an answer ;-)

He pushed an opposing player, then stamped on someones groin, then argued with the ref.

What I want to know is what did Rooney do to deserve being allowed onto the pitch in the first place. After his terrible display against Equador, why did Sven kepp him in a lone striker role? He is clearly incapable of that role. Even Crouch struggled, but still did a better job and looked closer to scoring.

The referee has said after the game that Rooney was sent off only for the kick in the groin. Not for pushing or quarelling with Cristiano Ronaldo. You should realize that when this happened the referee was standing literally next to it.

expensive God, what a keep on over someone you have not in any respect even met! Why does Rooney favor to be humbled? i'm no longer a footie fan and that i have heard the rumours that different communities objective to wind Rooney up, yet all he desires to do his his interest and go away his thoughts out of it. i imagine you sound like a really violent, aggressive and judgemental individual - now to not teach heavily jealous of Rooney. Hun, you're extremely no longer all that, and your little memories about your macho encounters with chavs are purely that - memories. Get a existence!

Well, as Rooney was tackeling the other player they fell funny and he landed on his groin area bt the ref wasn't going to do anything about that. Then C.Ronaldo ran over and said something so Rooney pushed him and the ref gave him an automatic red. Wrong.

Behaved like a spoilt little boy at a school sports day match.
Even if Ronaldo was winding him up he should have been mature enough to rise above it.

Stamped on another players private parts and then argued with the ref. He deserved to be sent off.

I think he actually got sent off for the push, but if the stamp on the bollocks was deliberate (it looked that way <_<) then he definitely deserved the red for that.

Don't like Ronaldo's wink :( dirty dirty tactics helping to get your club teammate sent off!
