Your best bet is google's fantastic free service, Gmail. The only catch is that the service is still technically in the "beta" (computer talk for preliminary, officially unreleased) version, and they only provide accounts to people with a cell phone. If you or a friend has a mobile phone however, simply visit www.gmail.com and choose "sign up with my mobile phone." They will provide you with free access to a POP and SMTP server. Hope this helps.

Gmail, and your ISP (Internet Service Provider). Most ISP's offer you at least 5 free email accounts with your service. Look up their website for help and you'll find all of the steps on their page on how to hook up your email.
