As a christian I would say yes, we should follow religion. It has brought me happiness and pleasure since I became one. It is up to everyone to discover their own needs and if you wish to become a Buddhist then it is up to you. Each faith has it's own merits, and you can always try comparative religous shopping.

think carefully.look at the world in wisdom.what the truth is.let me say something.what is world.world is you.buddha preached that world is each human being.why do we live.what do we hope.happiness right.why do christians pray? what do they request from god.Their ultimate goal is to go to heaven .why? for happiness.now think carefully.think abt yourself.when did u feel relax and comfotable?. you feel happines, freedom as long as you don't have much hopes, much desires etc.am i right? so buddha taught us to abandon. because then happines is there. when you feel happines you can develop your mind.thinking ability.intelligence. To do this in buddhism there are tool such as meditation aiming nibbana that is a mental status where you don't have hopes and you don't gather kamma.then u don't get another birth. because reasons for gaining a birth is destroyd.so if there is no birth then how come sadness exists. then there is no you or anything that related to you.so there is no sadness or anything.don't you like that or do you want to live in a life full of pains, panics, dissapointsments, etc. decision is yours. buddha has showed you the path to happines and most importently no creature in this universe can give you happiness except yourself.
good luck my friend!!!!!!

Before we decide on whether we should follow any religion or not, let us first understand what is religion. Usually, it is a set of guiding principles set forth by a person we consider to be enlightened. We look to him for guidance, and he offers you some guidelines to follow. But, are they relevent in today's context. Like no education for women, to take one example, is it valid in present circumstances. Without commenting on any religion, just give a thought to the fact, what the fundamentalist of any religion preach and where do they lead us.
If you are convinced, that any action you take is right, and justified, that is the best religion in my view.

i believe in the almight y God the creator of heaven and earth. i am a christian . i believe religion plays an important part in our lives. its true a lot of evrl has been done in the name of the lord by people of various religious beliefs. but i still think it is the best solution to mankind's problems. some religious principles are truly disgusting but i think in genral terms most religions talk about peace and happiness.
in sum i think the world would be a better place wiht religionthan without it.

Relegion ia a personal choice. All religions teach the same thing ie,truthful, love all, donot kill etc.But we do the opposite.Jesus taught to love all.See Americans.who are Christians.Thery are killing people in Iraque,Palestein,Vietnam .A superficial religion is not needed foe any body.If you do good ,even if you have no relgion,God will not punish you.Buddha means "realised /enlightened person".if you realise follies of the world and do good you can also become Buddha. Can you follow him is the problemIf you can follow good.Otherwise lead a good life free from all vices.

Christianity, for example, is not religion. Religion is a discipline, mostly man contrived that pitches you into bondage and often a trap you cannot escape. Religion is mostly based on self condemnation and discipline.
Christianiity is all I know and is all about mental freedom, freedom from bondage and the ability to cope and endure the hardship of life.
It does not just happen! You have to want it by way of faiith, belief and devotion.

Personally i don't think there should be any religions.
Most of the wars have ended up with different religious groups hating humanity and each other and its getting worse.
I think that religion is a load of crap to be honest, i don't need the bible or anything like that to be happy.
But everyone has their own beliefs, so if your religious and it is special to you then, that's fine, as long as you don't go as far as destroying places to let people know you ar religious....

If you are only seeking to follow an established system of beliefs, I would say that you are missing the purpose and may never be, truly devoted to your chosen religion. Search for the truth and you will find it.

I follow a few rules:
1) Each to their own:
If someone wants do do something, as long as it doesn't hurt others, I'm fine with it.
2) Be nice to people:
What goes around...
3) Make friends, not enemies:
Says it all, really.
Religion takes a back seat in me, in fact, I'm agnostic.

Nature created 2 religions: Male & Female. Rest all are man made.
I don't believe in following anything that differentiates man from man.
Follow your instincts, they will never prove wrong for you.
Do good,love all..............
