They make several cleaning solvents at Parts stores that do a pretty good job of degunking your engine bay.

Buy an extra can for the tough areas.

Remember to take the sprayer off your hose.
LOW PRESSURE is very important as to not screw up your older electrical system by it getting into some electrical components through your most-likely dry-rotted rubber seals and connectors.

no way it will cost you a fortune go to your local auto parts store by some engine cleaner hook your hose up get a pale with dawn dish liquid cause its cuts grease and a sponge first wash it all by hand that is the engine compartment and the engine what you can reach rince repeat if needed then spray your engine cleaner all over the engine and fire wall ECT..... let it sit for a while and rince repeat if nedded try not to go over board on the electrical like your altantor fuse boxes computers ECT.......... its best to wash that by hand and rince with a hose it ok if some engine cleaner gets on it but dont stand there and spray right on it if you know what i mean we have been doing this method for 20 plus years in the used car buisness and it works good looks good and mabe cost less than 20.00$$$$$ take it some where its goona cost you alot more than 20.00$$$$ and any one can do this kind of job its not rocket science work my 65 year old grand father cleans his engine all the time and knows nothing about cars

Yes it would. It helps it run cooler. You should have it professionall done unless you have access to an air compressor to blow the water out of the ignition system and the electrical charging system. Also be sure not to use a caustic type cleaner.

If you have a lot of road grime sure! It wouldn't hurt it, and take it to a decent detail shop. If there's oil deposits and dirt, especially on the top, you've got a leak somewhere and you need to get that taken care of.

get you 2 bottles of greased lighting, let car cool all the way down. spray under the hood let set 30 minutes , hose off with low pressure. will look like new.
