NEW YORK -- Hilary Duff said she's proud to be a virgin.
The singer-actress, 18, has been dating 27-year-old Joel Madden of Good Charlotte for two years.
Duff told Elle magazine that people "just assume" she's had sex because her boyfriend is nine years older, but she hasn't.
Duff said virginity is something she likes about herself.
She said it doesn't mean she doesn't think about sex, but when she hears her friends talk about it "it doesn't sound special like you would imagine it to be."

The difference between Britney Spears and Hilary Duff is that Britney wasn't happy being a child or a child's idol. She wanted to be a "grown up". Hilary has proved repeatedly that she is still young. She's being in tons of movie and all are either PG or G and she seems quite content in it all. I respect and like her a lot more after hearing this.
I'm not gonna blindly believe this though. I'll find my own proof.

I don't believe a word of it. A 27 year old man doesn't stick with an 18-year-old girl unless there's something in it for him too. She's saying that because, if she's been seeing him for 2 years, she started seeing him when she was 16 and he was 25...and it was illegal for him to have been having sex with her when she was 16 and it would be bad for her career and for his.
Also, these teen idols have a lot of fans that are young girls, and their advisors tell them to say they're still virgins to keep the parents happy.
And yes, it is a mistake for people like Hillary Duff to insist they're virgins, because eventually their lie tells out. Brooke Shields never got away with it and neither did Brittany Spears.
Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, and Christina Aguilera never have insisted they're virgins, and they've never lost fans over it. I think it's silly for people to insist they're virgins when everyone knows they're not.

This is a personal decision and since we're talking about a celebrity it's really their own business and no one else should decide for that individual what they wish to do with their own body.
