Religion is actually not the reason for causing hurt and blame and shame in the world...often it is man's interpretation of the religion...most faiths you will find are actually grounded on peaceful and loving ways of living...but become misinterpreted or used as excuses for selfish acts and behaviours...true faith only seeks to reconcile humanity

religion was the original form of government and it also answered the questions that people will always ponder. We dont really need it anymore now that we have different systems. Im athiest and i am less judgmental than most religious folk i know. I also seem to have better morals when it comes to the golden rule of 'treat others how you would like to be treated'. Religious people are too dumb to think about that for two seconds. ITs all about who is right and wrong. But religion does keep the wackos from from going on a killing spree for the fun of it knowing there wont be any consequences.

I know what you mean , religion takes everything that is natural for humans to do and make it wrong . I think all the worlds problems or atleast most are to do with religions . Great idea lets join a religion and get screwed up in the head .

I completely agree, religion is a means of justifying discrimination, intolerance and murder. To quote Richard Dawkins, "...without religion you would have good people doing good things and bad people doing bad things, with religion you have good people doing bad things all in the name of religion" As much as I detest religion, I have to admit that there have been times when I have thought that perhaps its not all bad When you see someone who has nothing, to whom life has been very unfair, religion can offer some solace (even if it is false comfort), but is it worth all the lives which have been ruined by it? I'm not convinced...

Pure religion is a good and wonderful thing. It teaches you humanity, responsibility and decency.
It's when people start believing they have a direct line to God that the problems start.
I feel strongly that too much bible study is bad for you - gives you ideas! Bad ideas.
If you really are interested in religion, study the words of Jesus Christ. He is/was an amazing man, prophet, Son of God.
Forget the rest. And he said "Do to others as you would have them do to you."
So - murder, killing, wars, persecution is out!
And that, my friend, is what pure religion is.

look not everyone has a religeon everyone is there individual person and has there own characteristics. now me personally im a christian and i know when i say that to some of my friends they think that omg u go to church every sunday and your a goody 2 shoes and things like that but trust that isnt how it is i dont go to church every sunday im lucky if i go once a month!! anyway what im trying to say is religeon of any kind is also individual to every person no matter wat they beleive in. for example you could have 10 christians in a room and each and every one of them would have a different view on there religeon. not everyone thinks religeon is good in fact some people have a good view of religeon and a bad side i know some people that blame god for things such as someone dying that is close to them or for bad things that happen they blame god for it. and so if you dont see religeon as a good thing then thats obviously the way you look at it like everyone has their own view and everyone is entitled to their own view so....u know dnt stress about it too much its a bit like marmite .. u either love it o u hate it. although it goes a bit deeper than that.

If importance is given to god rather than religion. i.e belief ,love. then religion is good only. As what ever may be the religion, in one way or the other we love or believe a person. That what matters rather than what religion, or say which god u believe.
So regligion is good, a way towards love and belief.

At the beggining it was a lot better. It helped people live better lives. It got aout of hand when people started having wars cuz they thought their religion was the right one. Today I don't think it makes much of a difference, but thousands of years ago it did.

Religion causes wars, but a living relationship with Jesus Christ is the way to peace. Christianity is not what we can do to impress God, but realising that He has taken the punishment for your sins when He died on the cross, and then handing your life over to Him. God's grace (unmerited favour) towards us is the key to salvation. If you want to know more please click on http://groups.yahoo.com/group/seeking_reality
