There is exactly 7 years the owls are given at the end of the 5th and 7th year of the education...... I hope this is of help

They join Hogwarts at 11, and finish when they are 17. They take their OWLs in Year 5 and their NEWTs at Year 7. They are officially adults at 17 in the wizarding community.
