What Nietzsche meant by that phrase is that the influence of religion in the world is waning more and more every day.
Unfortunately, it is not true outside the Western world. And because the world is getting smaller and smaller every day, other groups and religions are becoming influential in the life of the West.

i sincerely feel bad for that man. He is dead now. but think about it....to live life...and coming with the final conclusion that the hands that created You are dead. when LIFE springs up from every corner....and that so much LOVE hides in the heart waiting to be given. it makes me sad...because in concluding that God did not exist, took away all the meaning his life could have had

He was presumptuous. He didn't have enough information to give a valid statement of fact. All he could offer was his opinion, as do I. I believe God exists.
(You can't fairly ask someone to tell how they feel about something and yet say to not give an opinion. They are mutually exclusive.)
