oxidation. take a look at the oxidation numbers for Cr:
K2CrO4 : 2 x 1 + X + 4 x (-2) = 0
=> X= +6
Cr2(SO4)3 : 2 x Y + 3 x (-2) = 0
=> Y= +3
X and Y are the oxidation numbers for chromium AFTER and BEFORE the reaction. since the oxidation number has increased, chromium has undergone oxidation.
