all of the answers hold true...but if you car boils over, you need a new thermostat. I'd try that first along with checking your coolant level. Make sure it's mixed with 50% water and 50% coolant. A thermostat is rather cheap to buy and install. So try these two first and make sure your cooling fan is operational. If these don't work take it to a dealer, or your mechanic.

if you keep adding coolient and no sines of leaks possable blown head gasket witch will cause your car to over heat if you see alot white thick smoke comming out of your tail pipe good sine of blown head gasket also let you car sit over night and start it up the next day and whach the temp gauge if car starts to heat up to fast before normal operating temp possable blown head gasket also look at your oil and see if its kinda milkshake looking and feel it with your fingers it should be kinda sticky and have a coolient smell not a oil smell that means coolient is getting into your oil and thats not good so go threw these steps this a big part of the cooling system and many head gaskets fail do to poor care in the cooling part of the car if your passes these steps then i would check the radidor the water pump cooling fan thermostat to check your thermostat remove from car get pan with water and on high heat over the stove place into pan with a thermomoter once it reaches 195 it should start to open or look on the thermostat to see what temp it should open at water pump check remove the upper raditor hose with a bucket place hose in it and with help start your car if coolient if flowing freely then its fine coolient fan check hook up to 12volts and see if it runs then with a test light check the connections with key in the on position if your car has no servise engine light on 50/50 chance its sensor related

Take it to a mechanic to find out, could be a faulty thermo stat, leaky radiator, not enough coolant, maybe your cooling system needs a flush, who knows. Take it to a mechanic.

You may need an oil change or a new air filter.

Also check your distributor cap.

You may need to flush out the old coolant and replace it with new coolant.
