I have a cousin, she had a least 4 surgical done on her face to improve her appearance. It made her beautiful but different in so many ways. A few weeks ago she passed away suddenly. As i look at her at the coffin, her face has returned to its original form as I knew her. the surgical nip & tack done by a surgeon is gone. I wonder why people have to do this surgery, since beauty is skindeep. Is Surgical appearance really important to change identity or popularity?

It can boost self confidence, Im getting new boobs after having 3 beautiful kids, that is my only insecurity.

And with your cousin, I dont think that the surgery itself had anything to do with her death, because they give you a thorough exam, unless she lied about any unseen medical conditions.

And as far as her face going back to the way it was.......SHE WAS DEAD!(if its not a lie) All dead people look different, often they are bloated and swollen due to either an autopsy or the draining of the blood and the filling of the embalming fluid.

That and if was a real conceran that the surgery caused her death......don't you think that if her family thought so aswell they would be suing for medical malpractice.

I believe that surgery is pretty pointless and in most cases ruins your face. Some people have gone to the extreme by getting 10, 20, 30 or so plastic surgeries and they look horrible. But if you get a nose job or something small because you think that specific area is "ugly", then go ahead. But to keep changed everything about your face is bad. You're either going to never be satisfied and end up getting dozens of surgeries and look horrible, or be happy with your first surgery. One thing I hate is when people get breast augmentation (fake breasts). They usually make them way too big (think Pamela Anderson) and it's disgusting. I could see if you had A boobs and wanted B or C boobs, But to have A boobs and then go to a DD or so boobs makes you look fake and ugly. I would never get plastic surgery.

It makes you feel better about your appearance and more appealing to others, which is important to some people. Popularity comes from your personality generally, so I don't think people do it for that specifically. If a person has a crooked nose, scars, or some deformity, they should not feel badly about having plastic surgery, and shouldn't even if it is cosmetic. It is good to realize when it is time to stop it though. No one should take cosmetic surgery lightly and complications could occur with that just like any other type of surgery.

i don't think so.especially if u think about it.i know alot of physically beautiful people.but the peole they are make them ugly and untolerable to be around.not very appealing.but some more normal looking people with average looks have the kind hearts and virtually no personality anguish.they're humble and not completely happy with their appearance but don't put much importance on it.and to me that makes me feel comfortable.i love going to a friends house in my pj's with my hair in a bun and mismatching flip flops and a magazine and a cup of coffee.can't do that with the plastics.

It can give people a new sense of security about themselves or their looks. Which I guess is the important thing. I'm all for people doing what makes them happy, as long as it doesn't infringe upon another's rights.

I'm sorry for your loss. Youth and beauty are over prized in this society. I'm sorry that she felt the need to change. Perhaps if she lived in another part of the world, she would have loved herself for her.I blame this on each and every one of us. She will always be beautiful to you in your heart. My thoughts are with you
