I have a nano and when trying to play my music it's says "disk mode" and "ok to disconnect". it won't power off.

It could just be stuffed, hopefully you've still got the warranty on it. Many people I know have had to get theirs replaced, though mine's still doing okay. Twice it froze up, the first time it was okay again after connecting it to the computer and the second time I had to let the battery run itself out. If it's been like that for a while and nothing at all will fix it, then get it replaced while you still can.

Hold+Play/Stop + 10 sec = Power off

hold and press the play/stop button for like 10 seconds.
