I don't think so. I think they can actually build confidence. As long as it is the woman's choice to be in them, I think it is good. A girl I know won the county pageant, and she got to have a lot of good experences (like going to compete for Miss California) because of it. She said she learned a lot from meeting the girls from all over California, and it was a lot of fun.

If a woman chooses to enter a pageant, I have no problem with it. It's the mothers who push their daughters into a pageant that I have a problem with. Basically, I don't think pageants willingly entered by intelligent women debase them.

At first glance, i thought that the women in the pageants were fake, unreal, stupid and...well...debased. But they can't be fake because anything fake (u know wat i mean) in the competition is not allowed. so if they're not fake, they're not unreal. Stupid...mmmmm, maybe. it depends. But one of the contestants on Donald Trump's show, "The Apprentice" was a former winner for the pageant. She got eliminated, but she went a long way. but i don't like the idea of chosing winners for their looks, poise, dance, etc...even if thats the entire point of the pageant! its like everyone is treating us as a doll, and not a human being...u want my answer? i would never go into a beauty pageant.

Males would like to keep females in control. So they have to brainwash them that winning in beauty pageants matters.

no.i think that they give a girl a chance to work for something.to enhance herself and eventually give her a true appreciation for her true beauty.after losing enough you have to see something good in urself to get over the disappointment in losing.i am for pageants.even tho i am so not pageant material.

I like women too much to say anything against a celebration of their beauty.

i used to join pageants...but now i'm more mature so those things are out for me now...its being in control with yourself that makes it good for me...

I don't think so because it's not like they make them look stupid. You have to be intelligent and have good purpose in life to enter those.... I don't see anything degrading about that.
