there isnt any tiny hole. that drive is fine. it looks as though its not getting power to the burner there are no little lights on next to it like it normally is. please help

Sounds like its time for you to take it to someone who knows somethin!!!! CDrom or burner or dvd or whatever! I havent seen one yet that doesnt have a pinhole to maually release the disk!

Do you see the cd drive under "My computer" screen ?
If yes then it is being detected by the system, Cabling is ok ,
if no and you cant open it then you can force it open by sticking a paperperclip in small hole, ususally next to the eject button .
If that fails, then its time to ahve some one open up the system and look inside.

all optical drives have a hole in the try door top manuall open the drive in case of failure, you may have a cover door on your pc case, that you will have to open to see the tray door
