Well this depends... If you're talking about sheer skill like the fastest, most coordinated, and most technically advanced then your question has a definate answer because some guitarist are just faster and cleaner and theres no argument. Michael Angelo Batio is defintatley by far the best guitarist that has ever lived, then Vai, Satriani, Van Halen, Sinister Gates, and a few others.

But, if your asking who wrote the best music then thats going to be completly opinion, and answers will vary greatly. I personally think that Michael Angelo Batio, Hendrix, Clapton, Randy Rhoads, and Van Halen wrote the best music
