but I just dont have the money to pay for his Drs. visits, his meds., etc for a whole year., what in the world would you folks do? He has no way to make money, I live off of a very, very, small trust fund ( 125 a week, but I get my utilities paid for and the house is owned) and he expects me to completely take care of him. We have been together for 10 yrs., but this is truly taking a toll on me. Any advice folks? I just cant kick him out, but he needs to find another way to support himself....I am truly at a loss everybody..........

He has applied for Social Security Disability, but why does it have to take at least a year for that to take effect? I mean, he can walk and talk and drive and all that, oh, and boy o boy can he eat! but he is loads of pain. I just cant afford to take care of him! We live in Florida and I honestly wished we lived in the UK, Canada, Australia, etc. But I want to thank all of your kind answers...Please, dont stop, I need to hear more from you folks!!! You folks are such a sweet and supportive bunch that I wish I could keep you all forever!!! LOL! thanx again, Lauren..........P.S., tell me more, PLEASE!!!

You need to apply for disability for him. He may or may not qualify, but it's a start. If he has no income (don't include yours), then he should qualify for medicaid, since he has these health issues.

Check with your local social services, and don't include any of your income. You will have to include the housing and utilities that you are providing him as "income", but other than that, use only what he actually brings in ... .

Also, have him check with vocational rehab, if he is at all capable of any work at all. The government agencies will probably have him to that anyway to help access his level of disability.

Good luck to you both.

Why hasn't he applied for Social Security Disability? If he worked before the car wreck disabled him,he is entitled to a disability check and medical coverage! In addition,if he is disabled you could and should be getting paid for taking care of him! Contact your local social security office or go to the website for Social Security

If he is truly unable to work then he should be eligable for food stamps and medical card. If not both then the med. card.

As far as cash ....he needs to go to the SS office and sign up for SSI or SSD. To get SSD you have to be close to an invalid. For SSI you don't. If he isn't willing to do this then I wouldn't help him.

I think you need to get the information yourself and bring it home to him so he can see for himself what he can do....

Most states will allow a male to collec welfare benifits if they are unable to work. If he could get that then he could go apply for the SSI. The welfare will be a little help till he is able to get something better worked out/

man thats tough.. i really don't know,, im in australia and our goverment would give you a carers pension plus doctors visits would be really cheap with medicare.. so i don't know what your country has to offer it's people, maybe get a job from home?? use your comuter to make some money..get a family or friend to care for him so you can go out to work, if you really love him and he you he will accept that plus you would get a bbeak from him before you start to resent him.wishing you all the best.

Since you are not married to your b.f. he should be able to receive outside help for his doctors visits and medications. Don't know what your state you're from but he should qualify for assistance for medical, and maybe even financial assistance. Try calling your state department.

Ask your boyfriend's parents for help and explain how difficult this is for you. They should help you, he is their son!
