Neither.... I feel best when I do a good deed without the recipient knowing it was me. It may sound stupid to most folks but to do something for another without getting anything (even recognition) in return is the greatest good deed since the giver receives nothing, they do it for the sake of doing it. It is completely unselfish and altruistic.

A thank you would do just fine. Praise for doing a good deed can promote the giver or others to give more. However, some good deeds are simply good deeds that the giver wants to remain anonymous for. Other good deeds need to be acknowledged to let people know there is a great need out there that must be addressed.
The answer to this one is: it depends on what the giver wants.

Most of the time is Acknowledgment ... but now and then it would be good to get praise and reward too.

My theory is that people who do good deeds do them mostly for the good feeling they get from the acknowledgment and praise of the rest of us. Not to help the needy - to feel better about themselves.

None of them. I find my own satisfaction in that I was able to do a good deed and actually prefer that it's not acknowledged publicly. A "thank you" is enough, if the person knows it's me who did the deed.

Good deeds are just from the heart, nothing expected back. Otherwise, I had a crappy childhood, and I like to hear praise for something I did well.

It depends on what is important to that particular giver. Some people thrive on praise, while others don't care about being praised, they want money. Some people just want to be appreciated, so acknowledgment would work for them.

Sometimes I like to be praised for a job well done, but for the most part, I like doing things and knowing that I got whatever it is done.

I don't need either. I get satisfaction just from doing something good for someone else, but getting acknowledged is nice sometimes too. ;)
