No, the germans are NOT the most unfriendly people on the planet. They are human beings like the rest of us, they laugh, they cry, they pray, they have families and children and while I agree that 65 years ago German's were not seen as friendly, perhaps better said that most feared the German's under Hiltler's rule, however this doe not reflect the mindset of most modern day Germans.

i have to go against what FORSAKEN said because i am one of "THOSE PEOPLE" and no germans are not the most unfriendly people on the planet some people in everysingle race are unfriendly not just them

I spent a week in Kiel during Kieler Woche in the summer of 2004, and found Germans to be some of the most FRIENDLY people I've ever met!! And that in spite of hardly understanding any German at all!!

Actually, we Germans can be pretty unfriendly in general, I remember my mother warning me never to yell BOO! in France, because then they'll all surrender. She also told me that she would kill me if I ever dated a colored person or a Jew. Spent my younger years desperately trying to find a black jewish woman, never did. Damn!! Yeah, we can be pretty mean.

I just came back to America from 3 weeks in Germany.
The people are very warm and helpful, you may be mistaking their respect for your personal space as being cold. Every shop I went into we were greeted by workers and customers alike. My son is engaged to a very sweet and smart German national & I can tell you that compared to his previous women..this one is a keeper!

I've never been there, but from the ones I've known in America, they seem to be really friendly.
Contrary to the propaganda too, I hear they are very open-minded towards racial issues. At least, that's what I've found.
