Its not just because I am European, I have an Asian friend that thinks the exact same thing, his quote ""You westerners have such an unnecessary diversity of appearance. None of you looks even remotely similar to any other one. So many different colors of hair, shapes of eyes, noses, and other facial features. If I were an uneducated yokel who had never been out of the backwater of Japan, I'd wonder if you were even all of the same species. Look at us. We can tell each other apart quite easily, even though we all have the same eyes, nose, mouth, hair -- and we even dress alike"!

Why is this?

It is pure racism to advocate the notion that Caucasians have more diversity. It is obvious that there is as much variation amongst Black Africans and Asians as well as Hispanics as there is amongst us whities. Race doesn't accurately reflect a connection to ethnicity and culture. Somalians are classified as Caucasian but consider themselves to be Black Africans, even though they have Semitic ancestry. They have their own culture and history and are Muslim.

We can tell each other apart, but Others can't tell us apart.

Truth be told, there is more genetic diversity in West Africa than between a Japanese person and a Swedish blonde.

The Japanese person and the Swedish blonde share the same common ancestors that left Africa 100,000 years ago.

The West African, well, hasn't left Africa so their ancestors go back 200,000 years--therefore more room for variation.

We're too hung up on physical looks rather than speech patterns, gait, and eye movements that other people look for in differentiating between tribes...

There's always more than meets the eye--the sense most easily deceived.

Let me say that Stephanie is completely full of excreta with her politically correct "Its racism " remark .

They do look alike to you, and you to them. I had a Chinese girl tell me, "You all look alike to me". There is a term police use for this when one person is trying to give a description of a person of another race ( which,of course, escapes me at the moment).

sometimes we see people of other races as being 'all look alike to me' or 'they are so distinct from each other, gee whiz!'
i am asian, and i dont think its fair that you use the opinion of your asian friend to justify your prejudices. your friend speaks only from his own experience and his views, no one can represent a whole race. do you expect that your own opinion can represent your nation, or you race, or even your own family?
if he thinks that all caucasian are distinct, that was his opinion, and yours too. but it does not vindicate the statement that all caucasian are more distinct from each other than people of other races.
come on, you know better than that!
