I am worried that I will be sued by one or all of the insured parties. Trouble is I don't own anything. I have lost everything to this. I am fearful that I may not be able to provide for my child if I am sued. Is there anyone out there who has been through this? Who may be able to offer information as to how I will be able to provide for my own child? Has anyone been through this? Will the quality of our lives be forever impacted? Is there anyway to raise the quality of our lives while giving away 25% of my pay to some rich insurance company for the rest of my life? Please help with answers to my questions. I am one concerned mother, who agrees I should have thought of this before I drunk drove. I feel terrible. But I still want to live with some quality. Is it possible?

Don't panic. It's good advice from the others to consult with a lawyer if you are worried about POSSIBLE lawsuits. You've not been sued yet, so there's no point worrying about something that MIGHT happen in the future. You're just wasting your energy that way. Do consult with a lawyer to ask if this is a possibility and how you can protect yourself (sometimes your county might offer free or low-cost legal advice). You don't own anything -- ever hear the saying "you can't get blood from a turnip"? Anyway, don't waste all your energy worrying, just get professional advice.

I'm sorry you had to learn this lesson through such a horrible experience! I hope you and your kid(s) are going to be safe.

You will be sued by the victims' insurance companies....and because it involved a criminal act.....a bankruptcy may not offer you any relief....You need a lawyer....and keep your paychecks out of the bank.
