1st of all don't go to claires, when your ready go to a professional piercer and this is why: http://www.norwalktattoo.com/piercinggun.htm
http://www.akrontattoos.com/Pguns.html
http://www.bodyadorned.com/content/104/0/

And that's just some of the resources available on why piercing guns are bad and dangerous! DO your research it could save your life (actually).

2nd, either convince her or your father, or wait otherwise you risk getting the shop that does it for you in tons of trouble (they will get shut down if they get caught even if you used a fake ID), and the actual piercer can go to prison for disfiguring a minor (seriously). Not only that but anyone willing to pierce a minor without parental consent is breaking the law, so you've got to wonder what else they are doing, are they using dirty needles and giving you HIV? Where do these unscroupulous people draw their line? Ask yourself that? Anyone willing to pierce a minor without the consent of the parrent is not someone you want piercing you anyway.
Any reputable shop will require you to have photo ID proving who you are, your parent must have photo ID proving who they are, and if your last names or address are different you must also present a birth certificate, divorce papers or documentation stating they are your legal gaurdian.

Maybe if you do the research and present your mom with your findings she will reconsider, research the aftercare, research the dangers of piercing guns, research the local shops and find a good one with a piercer who can answer any questions you could think up including what type of sterilization method they use. Present her with your case as an educated adult would and maybe she will change her mind.

If you decide to follow the ill advice of some others on here please remember that rubbing alcohol does not kill the staph infection which is the leading cause of infection in self done piercings, neither does fire or boiling water!

Good luck and I hope she changes her mind.

First and foremost, going behind your dear old Mum's back will prove to be an unwise choice that you probably will regret.

Also, getting any kind of piercing done with a gun, ears being no exception, is a bad decision. The holes usually aren't in the proper place, the posts are too short for the swelling that occurs, and, in a lot of cases, the gun wasn't held straight and left a crooked piercing. Sterilization is non-existent with these practices, leaving you extremely susceptible to infection, minor and otherwise.

All that said, since this isn't a lecture, it's pretty common for girls to just use ice to numb their ear and a needle that's been held over a flame {this doesn't really sterilize anything, but I digress}. Be sure to have saline solution nearby to clean the hole three times a day.

This may involve an act of trust....and an act of rebellion....

All you have to do is have a friend numb it and use an upholstery needle....have lots of ice and paramedics on standby!

Or. You could accept that your mother is just trying to do what she feels is right. Who really needs that many holes in their ears anyway? (Personally, I have 3 in each ear.....and I rarely wear earrings in them, so all the fighting I did with my mom over piercings was a waste!)

My mom was the same way until I was nearly 18. I got mine doubled up on vacation....because I was having a horrible time and my mother thought that piercings would cheer me up. What I forgot to take into account is that fresh piercings and salt water don't go so well together. My ears swelled up to the point where they were just solid chunks of skin with no indentations whatsoever. Very sexy, indeed.

Chances are, you'll find piercings aren't the way to go. (Oh, and the lady at Claire's was just following state regulations and whatnot.)

an ear piercing doesnt take much skill, it doesnt really take a licensed piercer to do those. bridge and septum (between the eyes and middle of nose) is the hardest with labret and oral piercings in the middle with ear piercings being relatively easy. Im not saying that you should have a friend do it or go against your parents wishes but I am saying that it is easy to do. soak it in sea water for five minutes 3 times a day and use clean, sterile instruments.

There is a reason for those rules. When you are 18, you can better decide if you really want that done. You may feel differently at that time. Listen to your mom, sounds like she loves you and only wants what is best for you.

the reason for the law is; if you get a major infection, unclean needle, stupid employee, improper care of ear, your parent will sue the store. that's why the store won't do it. so no you can't, just wait. you don't want big old floppy holes in your ear lobes by the time your forty do you? do all the damage to your body late in life, it will look fresher

Looks like you're gonna have to wait. Don't do anything stupid like trying to do it yourself or having one of your girlfriends do it. Infection is NOT fun.

Also, people who work in Claire's (at least the one's I've seen) aren't the most qualified piercers.

first of all, anyone working at claire's is not an authority figure, they are however, doing their job. It is illegal, wait it out, or convince mommy there is no risk, with some good research.
