oh, that's a tough one. I also teach primary students and they can drive you crazy. The best way to get a hold of your temper is to get control of the students. this is going to mean a lot of extra work for you for a little, but in the end, it's worth it. Come up with a clear and definite cause/effect chart, so that the rules are there in front of the kid's eyes. Better, have them help you come up with the rules and the consequences for breaking them. Then stick to it. Every single time. Once the kids get it through their heads that breaking rules has consiquences, they'll be easier to control.
But also, you do need to be able to keep a handle on your temper, because things are not always going to go right. In fact, they rarely will. Take time after class or during recess to calm down and center yourself, remind yourself that these are children, and they are still learning, they're not going to be perfect anytime soon. Also, if you have lost your temper, think over what happened, how you felt, and how you could have handled it better. Setting good patterns in your mind will help you act them out in real life. If you're the religious sort, pray for help, that works, too.
Good luck!

What will control your temper? It's called maturity and 26 is a good time to develop some. The only control you will ever have is self-control. Lack of which causes most of the trouble we read about here in Yahoo. Practice makes perfect. The first step? own it, next time you lose your temper, catch yourself, apologize, and tell the person you are yelling at that you need a "retake", then say what you need to without yelling, cursing, or being rude. Practice makes perfect. It can be done. I've seen it. Good luck.

Make sure you have a safe friend to vent to. I have found many bad experiences make good stories later, and it helps to think of that at the time. Journaling is a safe place to let it loose, and will be prized when you look at it 5 years from now.
I know my 13 year old drove his teachers nuts from K to 6th grade, and we tried charts and stars and whatever else we could think of, but it didn't help for long. Then last year he entered 7th grade, and was a model student all year long and made the Hall of Fame. Some kids just have to grow up, so accept that it's not a reflection of you or your abilities.
Physical exercise is probably the best thing of all. I know it takes time and effort, but those endorphins will go a long way.
Best of luck. We appreciate what you do.

You'll need a lot of patience. You have to remember you are the adult and the role model for these children. Most of them are probably just acting their age. Acting out as they do is only going to make matters worse for everyone involved. You obviously chose this profession because you want to teach children so teach them in fun ways to help them stay focused. Remember to breathe and remind yourself the reasons why you love your job and focus on that to help ease yourself when you feel like your losing control. Good luck

'Love.'
Like you I had a temper I could not control. It suited me in the lifestyle I had lived but not after I left that life. I fought with myself for years over it. Then I discovered, if you put your heart and soul into loving, there's no room for anger. These young children you teach, yes they are exuberant and hard to handle, but little children are the most beautiful, endearing people in the world. Look for the goodness in them, look for the beauty in them, look for the Godliness in them. Look for the love in them and give them yours.
