It is not desirable to have such a situation. Associate Jackson once wrote, "We are a religious people and our institutions presuppose a Supreme Being". As a life-long educator, now teaching in the PROC, I witness the deadly impact of a materialistic, atheisitc philosopy on young people. China's youth are thirsting for the Gospel. Read Nicholos Kristoff's columns in the NYTimes. He is absolutely on the money. In a visit to Shanghai recently, the church was so crowded, tv cameras had to broadcast the sevice to the overflow crowd.

only in a dictatorship. as long as we live in a democracy and people follow organized religions, the voting pattern will be influenced by the faith of the voters. hence there will always be a connection.

actually, no where in the constitution is the phrase "seperation of church and state" so probably never.
