I went to add and remove and still can't get rid of it.

go to Start menu, and then in ur Programs menu in ur messenger, there will be ''unistall'' clik on that and *Voila*, itz gone

Click on START...go into you control panel. Click on add/remove programs......
A whole list will pop up of everything downloaded on your computer. Be careful not to click on anything you want to keep. It's in alphabetical order so go to Y for Yahoo Messenger.

go to start, click on settings, click on control panel, click on add or remove programs. wait for it to load scroll down to the program you want to remove, click (change/remove/uninstall) which ever you see.
then a popup appears asking you if you are sure you want to uninstall. click yes/ok then it does.
