Get good brand names for your parts first of all. Like Asus motherboard, Kingston RAM, NVidia Video Card, and Soundblaster card. You should have 1 GB of RAM, a 512 MB Video Card, and One of the best dual core Intel processors. Make sure you have a nice 21 inch monitor (LCDs are sexy, but CRTs are still best for gaming), and some nice speakers like Klipsh or Logitech. Plus you want a good name brand power supply like Antec with at least 500 watts continuous power. Get a 10,000 rpm hard drive for the best hd performance, and a nice 500 GB HD for file storage. Make sure you stick with Windows XP.

Buy everything at Newegg or Tigerdirect.

2 gb RAM ddr2

top-o- the-line dual core intel processor or latest amd athlon 64
latest pci-e video card w/ 256mb min memory, (either ati or nvidia, your choice)

1 or 2 146gb scsi3 hard drive, 15,000 rpm, 32mb cache
(forget all the ide drives, if you need speed, stick w/ scsi)

any dvd writer will do, but better if the drive can read high-capacity

best cooling system you can buy. you need to replace the stock heat-sink-fans attached w/ the video card. and at least 1 intake & exhaust fans in your casing

minimum power supply should be 500 watts, you can tell which brand is good by their prices. enermax is a good brand. but this all depends which country you are

1 gigabit lan, it's like copying files from another hard drive

the latest audio card from creative labs, for the best audio quality

the latest 8.1 speaker system you can get
