It wouldn't make sense for a 16 and a 30 year old to be allowed to date legally. Let's figure it out. First of all, what if the 16 year old got the 30 year old pregnant, then the 30 year old decided that marrying a 16 year old was not what they wanted to do. Now you've got a 16 year old ordered to pay child support to a 30 year old (that's 18 years worth, by the way) until they're 34 years old (child support can also increase as the income increases, and you can be certain the 30 year old will keep track of his income).
Now let's jump to the flip side. Regardless of how worldly most 16 year olds believe they are, the majority don't have nearly the emotional and social maturity of a 30 year old. It becomes very easy for a 16 year old to be convinced that "love is in the air" when in fact it's a predatory situation. There are only two real reasons someone 30 would want to be involved with someone 16 (barring a very few exceptions).....Number 1: They are emotionally immature enough not to relate to anyone in their general age group (25-35) (still much more mature than a 16 year old however)....or 2: They love the power they have over someone who is easily manipulated emotionally and, as most 16 year olds tend to be.....looking for that first and magic love.

Hell NO! At 16, the younger member of the pair is clearly just a child by comparison, and i don't mean just in numbers of years. At age 16, the person is incredibly vulnerable and emotionally immature. Although he/she may claim to understand love and the responsibilities that go along with it, the younger person doesn't really understand all of the implications. The older member of the pair, however, should be fully aware of the implications, but most importantly, should also be aware of the complications that will occur when professing love for a person not even old enough to drop out of high school! Oh, yeah, in most states, it is statutory rape! (I concede that it is possible for a tiny minority of 16 year olds to be mature enough to make intelligent decisions regarding such a relationship, but the law should protect the overwhelming majority of those children who are NOT mature enough, which is precisely what it does.)

Why would a 30 year old be interested in a kid? And why would a kid be interested in such an older person? The years between are to great and would lead to too much trouble. Sixteen is way to young to know or experience the needs of a 30 year old.
Your are much better off staying with people closer to your own age. AND no one goes to jail!

The view from here is no, 16 year olds think they have it all going on and are in control of themselves, but you know what? Ten years later they look back and laugh at how inexperienced and stupid they were at 16. 16 doesn't have the life experience to deal with it, even if at 16 you think you do.

Not if you are my daughter. I feel that the older you get, the less problems people have with age differences. But 16 and 30 is just gross.

Yes. You see America is what we call a free country. If a 16 year old wants to date a 60 year old, they can.

No. A 30 year old is old enough to be a 16 year old's parent and that's a bit yucky!

No, nor should they. It violates the maturity rule of one fourth. If the age diffrence (in this case, fourteen years), is more than a quarter of the younger person's life span, the diffrence is too great. Besides, that would be child molestation.
