It is possible to think positive no matter what the situation, but I doubt this is the case for most people. I know my first reaction to a flooded home and other natural disasters involving loss of lives would be no where near positive. I would eventually start thinking in a positive manner, but that would not be my first response. I think most people review the situation first and maybe later start to think in a positive manner.

Yes I believe we can be in a positive thinking frame of mind all the time. I am a follower of Jesus Christ and I aspire to be a positive thinker every day. Positive thinking allows me to greet the day with a smile and each person I meet (or have interaction with) with a smile. Consider a worse time such as war. Positive thinking allowed the U.S. and other allies to prevail against enemies that were determined to succeed no matter the cost. And positive thinking makes you feel better.

no, this is unrealistic and goes against our basic human nature. how are you going to experience the wonderful realizations of how good life can be if you have never suffered, where is the comparison. without the bad we would not fully appreciate the good. you can not have positive feelings if you do not know the despair of negative feelings and the rich reward of conquering that despair and turning it into triumph. don't delete negative feelings, they are great teachers of joy to be had.
