As I haven't been to Langkawi in awhile i can't provide much information there.
However as for KL, if you're interested in nature & animals, you might want to take a trip to:
1) Bird Park, Lake Gardens
2) Butterfly Farm, Lake Gardens
3) Orchid Farm, Lake Gardens
The above three are all located in the same area, Lake Gardens and are all within walking distance of each other. The Bird Park is home to hundreds of species of birds. It is one of the largest covered bird parks in the world. For further information on the rest of the parks, search on the given website below
4) Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) (Canopy & Nature Walks)
FRIM - Just an hour out of town, you can get a genuine feel of Malaysia's forest, a view from above of the forest's flora and fauna.
Hope you have a great time!

I've been to Langkawi like 3 times and I'm not too keen on the place! I guess the island life is too slow for an urban city girl like me, lol. I'd only ever been around the town of Kuah, Tanjung Rhu & stayed in my hotel mostly.
As for KL, here's my suggestion:
----Day One----
Head out to the Bird Park to check out exotic bird life. Follow up with a view of the National Mosque.
----Day Two----
Spend the day in Chinatown aka Petaling Street especially for its nightlife.
----Day Three----
PutraJaya, our Prime Minister's hub of administration. There's a fine mall there, Alamanda I believe is the name. There're also lakes, parks to check out while you're there
----Day Four----
I saved the best for last=) Spend your final day shopping & marvelling at the fine architecture of our Petronas Towers by joining in the tour. Have a view on the skybridge. Also great shopping at foot of towers. Great way to end your trip.
Most of all, have a good time, bring plenty of light, cotton clothing for coolness & comfort amid our humid weather & just have fun!

Although Langkawi is not the best island in m'sia but it is full of legendary stories & a peacefull place.
you can diving or snorkeling, island hoping, exploring bat cave and so much things you can do.. i would suggest you rent a car and ride the whole island. below the link is the most complete infos abt langkawi.
KL.. i think you got pretty infos on your other question, so i wouldn't talk much here. check out on the 2nd link, i found it is a quite useful website which talk abt m'sia.
wish you enjoy your trip in malaysia :>

Look beyond the city of KL; take a day trip up Fraser's Hill and enjoy the splendor of the tropical rainforests. The journey up the hill (on winding roads) is an experience by itself- surrounded by by jungles and beautiful scenery.

i am not sure abt langkawi.
But in KL, i think the place that you need to go 1st should be KLCC then to KL tower..Both place is quite near... if you like shopping, KLCC,sg.wang,Mid-valley,1U is the best place.
If you like natural then you can visit to the "The mines woderland" at Serdang and the "Taman Pertanian" at Shah Alam.
