They said that because back when the original movies came out people had more morals and sense of decency. Now people who have strong morals and a sense of decency are considered 'weak' and people still incorrectly phrase that as being gay. If you look at all the modern hero's that are now 'popular' at the box office you find that they are all angsting, socially inept people who have poor backgrounds wah wah wah sob story histories. Superman really didn't have a background of that nature, he was raised by a decent couple to believe in a set of values that have long since lost meaning in this country.
He doesn't have Spiderman's 'Oh woe is me I was selfish and my uncle died' problem. Or the 'The world shuns me because I'm a genetic deviation for the norm' that the X-men have.
Remember that the networks make their money by entertainment, and an upstanding person doing the right thing just because it's the right thing to do isn't entertaining.
I think he's just who he is.

Superman sucks anyways. I'm all about Batman! If you really thin about it, superman is gay. He's always rushing in and out of closets, etc. I've been saying it for years.

Well, since he's an ALIEN. we don't know. If Superman were actually walking the earth he'd have a really hard time getting any from anybody! He's faster than a speeding bullet. -His parter would fry from the friction and if that didn't happen,he's more powerful than a locomotive- he'd pulverize his partner to a pulp.

i think the media wants to call everthing "gay" to get a shock out of people and raise their ratings.
