Slang. Been around forever. "the bee's knees"," the cat's meow","bitchin","far-out"
"gnarly","awesome","hot"..
they all mean the same thing...that something is...good! Cool, on the otherhand is like "smooth" and "righteous". It's a way of thinking, thoughts, attitude... Hope that sort of help's you out.

Hot is more used as a term to describe a person's looks. Cool is more of attitude.

why does bad mean the same thing as good, both are complete opposites but can have the same meaning, seems like a contradiction doesnt it...
