Unfortunately yes.. You see people cant forgive or forget what happen. An they also fail to realize the Germans that where responsible for the war are no longer alive. So there hate and resentment is being put on a new generation of Germans that had no part in the war, because they where either kids or not born yet. If people every looked at the big pic. then the answer would be no, but because the human race as a whole for one reason or another just cant see past the here and now.

They also cant see that there hate at this time will be the startting point of the next World War. Because hate is how all wars are started and the only way to stop it, is to stop the hate.... As you can see form your other replys that just isn't possible

In Europe, the follies of war are slowly being forgotten. I think our generation hasnt grown up with the shadow of the 2nd World War, so we are more willing to forgive and move on. Why should Germany be resented still? The Nazis were the criminals, and they were beaten, so Europe must move on. Bad Stereotypes and old hatreds will do nothing to heal rifts.

BTW, Im English and i personally hope that Germany win the World Cup. Its about time they were accepted by the rest of the world outside Europe as the modern democracy they are.

Yes and no. Some countries did, others didn't. The Germans still have to bent and kiss feet. But what most people/countries forget - they had their own little Hitler in their history. The Spaniards wiped out the Aztecs, America tried to wipe out the Natives and since they didn't make it, they suppressed and still do in a way. England was running wild on Scotland for centuries. Suppression, rape and murder was their daily hobby and once they couldn't kill them all, they deported them, or made the starve so bad that they left the country on their own. And they still won't give independence to Scotland. Italy and their Roman history (the stress lies on the word 'history'), trying to conquer the known world, Greece, Egypt, Macedonia, Portugal, France and Napoleon. Just leave the poor people alone now! It's been over 60 years! Nobody is pointing at America for what they did to the Natives and nobody points at England for what they did to Scotland, Ireland, Australia, India, the Falkland Islands and even America! Or at Norway, Denmark and Sweden. Jesus, let history be history.

The only reason why some Germans hate America now is the fact that you have a Hitler in the White House at the moment. An idiot who justifies war with friggin lies and the nation was stupid enough to reelect that idiot. You got your own Hitler now - deal with. And now you get to feel how it was for Germany when they had theirs.

If after 61 years people still resent the Germans, they are stupid and ignorant. There's not one country in the world that has not
slaughtered thousands and thousand. Not one has a clean slate, however nobody likes to look at their own backyard first,
just think about the Slaves , the Russians killed by Stalin and he blamed it on the Germans, which is found out to be not true, the Chinese, Uganda , the Armenians, the list goes on and on.
I like the Germans, they are friendly, they LOVE americans, the whole friggin country speaks english, the young people only listen to american music, most advertising is in english, I lived there too and had no problems whatsoever.

People still have many misgivings about the germans during the War. Governments may sign treaties but its really up to the populations of those countries to forgive, because there are people who are still alive who fought in the war, or they suffered by the hands of their enemy, its these people who germany needs their forgiveness from.

of course theres a lot of hate and resentment, especially from people who lost a lot of family members ,speaking from a personal point as i lost 16 members of my family including my father and grandfather,i will never forgive or forget, sekeknight says that this is a new generation so they are not to blame, but remember the first world war the generation after that was supposedly not resposible,so who started the 2nd w/war,think about it.
