I wondered, is it possiable in this day and age, to be both a New York Yankee fan AND a Boston Red Sox fan?? I love the Yankees, but I don't hate the Red Sox, which from what I understand, goes hand in hand. What is your take??

I think that part of being a Yankee fan, and a Red Sox fan at that matter, is the rivalry and suspense as to what will happen every day to both teams. You want your team to win, and both teams make the other lose, so I find it very hard to like one of those teams and not hate and despise the other. Yankee fans say "the only reason you dont like us is cause your jealous" and Red Sox fans say "Why would we be jealous, we won in 2004, after being down three games to none, yeah in the end it means the same as if we swept you and one the world series, and yeah, in the past 87 years you won twenty six world series nd have been there thirty nine times, but we arnt jealous, because in the past 87 years, we won one time, so ha, we are down just 25."

Maybe it's possible to be from NY and love the Yankees but not dislike the Red Sox. It probably is physically and emotionally impossible for a Red Sox fan to have anything but viceral hatred for the Yankees, their fans, their symbol, their t-shirts, anything. Go to a Red Sox game at Fenway when they are playing anybody but the Yankees and the fans will politely ignore the other team's fans cheering for their team, but if even one Yankee fan shows up in Yankee gear, thousands of Red Sox fans will take up the chant, "Yankees S*ck" Can't explain it, but it's true.

NOPE! You can't be both Yankees and Red Sox fan....it should be illegal! I am exactly like you...love my Yankees but don't hate the Red Sox...I am just not going for Boston. Those two teams will always dislike each other...that's the just part of what makes many of us fascinated by this game.

No, IT'S NOT POSSIBLE to like the Yankees and the Sox at the same time. I don't know anyone who does and if they do, they won't admit it. They'll only admit to liking one or the other, but not both. I Love the Yankees, but don't really hate the Sox. I just want them to be in last place, which, unfortunately never happens! Go Yankees!!!!!!

Ok I do not think it is possible.Too much history.
I do like the Mets,they don't offend me at all.But I can't imagine it being possible to even remotely tolerate Boston Red Sox.
