The wiring harness connected to your truck's lights is corroded. It needs to be cleaned which means you may have to disassemble your lights to get to it. Good luck.

start by checking the ground line(s) under the bed and behind the tail lights. then check the wire harness connection going from the chassis to the bed, this is where if you had to remove your truck bed you would disconnect the power to the tail lights without cutting wires, to make sure it is completly pluged in. check for loose wires. then make sure that you wiring harness wires are covered that the insulation has not been stripped away from them, if all that fails you can either take it to a garage for them to look further into it or you could run a simple wiring setup from the taillights to the plug for the trailer hookup and let it be at that.

you might need a new plug on your truck.
the pins sometimes get corroded insde or just lose contact.
try replacing that first then go for a circuit tester if that fails to see where the juice stops at.

i've got had this comparable project. in case you had those less costly sq. lighting fixtures from motor vehicle Zone, or in addition built lighting fixtures, the springs that extremely touch the sunshine bulb interior the sunshine are bent back. regrettably, in case you attempt and bend them out, you will destroy them. you will ought to replace your lighting fixtures themselves with slightly greater proper high quality ones.
