I totally agree! I think it should be a rule against it......why would any parent with common sense take their kids to such a movie in the first place? There is a theater where my sister lives where kids 2 and under are banned.....I think its a great idea! It just annoys me to hear screaming babies and cell phones going off after I've paid my 8 bucks for a movie!

I have a three yr old son and took him to the movies for the first time last weekend to see a family friendly movie....he did great and we went to a matinee so there were many other kids his age there as well. I think they need to be old enough to sit and watch....and take them to a kids' movie - not something violent or for adults - and for goodness sakes - take them to the matinee!!

Sir J's Top 10 Reasons you see an infant in an R Rated Movie

1. They have bad manners
2. They cannot afford a sitter
3. They do not trust a sitter
4. They are inconsiderate idiots
5. They are very, very bad parents (taking little kids to R-rated movies thinking the kids won't pay attention)
6. Plans fell thru at the last moment for the sitter
7. The sitter was the girl in "Last House on the Left" and therefore didn't show up
8. The sitter *was* the person with the baby and the parents were actually out to dinner
9. That was no baby
And lastly:
10. We're all being Punk'd

I think its because the kids are such brats no one wants to watch their kids, and I think its mean when a parent does that and it scares the kids.I went to see Texas chainsaw massacre and a woman brought a young child in there and no one could hear the movie for the child screaming so a bunch of people including myself told her to take her child home and be a parent and not bring a child her age to a movie like this cause she let her scream and cry almost 30 minutes.

I have 4 kids...I have never taken all to the movies but i can tell you why...as a parent i would.....My family and i live in a odd community....lots of drugs, ect...my family lives far away. and my wife's is not capable of the task.....at some point as a human you need some sort of relief....even if it means taking the kids to a movie.....don't get me wrong....if a parent is not being responsible and taking a screaming child to the lobby, they are just being RUDE....to get a break doesn't mean making others suffer.

to be honest with you, we used to take our kids in arms even when going to movies, as babyisitting is a problem in india also, and our parents would say, we are not going to mind you children, while youwill watch the movie nicely. luckilly, my kids used to suck the milk bottle, and sleep, no screaming. later, when they were a little bigger, they started understanding the movies also, so we showed them sound of music, mackenna's gold etc. usually, if a baby starts crying, others start shoo-shooing, and poor fatherhas to make his way out, till the baby comes to normal, but that hardly happens, and poor fellow does not get to watch any thing!
you have raised a very interesting question, but my point is, why not movie theatres provide the facility of a in-house creche and a child care type of a spot, with reliable, trained staff, to mind the kids, while their parents enjoy the movie? i think this should be the most practical solution to the problem. some parents are skeptical of leaving their kids in the hands of strangers, for fear of kidnapping, that's one difficulty. in that case, they should bring their own baby sitter, and theatre should provide the facility to wait in the space provided by them.as far as the moies for kids are concerned, you have to tolerate all their noise, screaming, and enthusiasm!or keep shows specials!

their kids complain about wanting to go do something and the parents can't think of anything but a movie, or they can't find a babysitter, or they wanna spend quality time... wrong place, I know, and screaming kids, ick, but hey, the parents ARE doing something to try to make it more enjoyable for you, although it may not seem like it. Next time just politely ask the parent if they can try to calm their kid down... good luck...

I took my children to the movies. It was the only break I got. If they started crying I would take them to the lobby so they would'nt disturb anyone. Hey parents are people too. I did not take them to anything unsuitable however.

Because they might as well learn at a young age that the world is a mean ugly place (Crap! Why not take them to "The Devil's Rejects"? Do we have to have a new generation of sociopaths?)

The parents want to watch the movie and they don't want to pay a babysitter, so we must all suffer! (>_<)

i think its because they think they're giving their kid some culture. to hell with the rest of the world. these parents are usually the self centered ones who raise their kid with a false perception of the world. stupid i know. these poor kids will probably grow up to hate their parents for making them spend their childhood in the theatre. heres hoping............
