Yes, I felt that way when I was young and foolish and got drunk. No, it's not normal, and if you aren't drinking, you should probably see a doctor. Good luck!

Oh my goodness, people. Is this the gathering of the uninformed? "Spinning in bed" is not anything to do with alcohol, or even with ear problems, though dizziness can occur because of ear fluids. This spinning you are referring to happens as the body is completely winding down and preparing for REM. They are called hypnotic jerks or cyclonic jerks. Also: They are completely normal.

Not exactly, but I've had something similar happen... occasionally I've woken up very suddenly and felt like I was falling. But it only lasts a split second - as far as I know, it's just me being disoriented after abruptly waking up.
alleymarziacat's answer sounded well-informed, so I'd look into that if I were you. If it's mild and not incapacitating I wouldn't worry too much, but I'd still recommend asking a doctor. Better safe than sorry. ;)

Urgh, yes....
Once when I was very very drunk....but I suppose you would know if that were the case!
The other times when I felt that way, I had a bout of something called Meniere's Syndrome. It's a disorder of the Inner Ear and it causes Vertigo.
Other things can cause this condition, it's NOT normal. Please see you doctor!

Never felt like it, but I actually have. Even the room was spinning.
I stop it by placing one foot firmly on the floor, if I can locate it, then I take a "tite 'old ' on a window sill above my bed. It works untill.....untill........until.........

Only after drinking too much. If you have not been drinking I wouldn't think that it is normal.

Not since I quit drinking. Do you need to quit drinking. If not, then I'd probably see a MD.
