they say 8 hours of sleep is what most people need in their lives, but, most people really get about 6 hours of sleep...but, what about the nap? How does that 10-20 minute cat nap figure into the equation? I usually feel pretty rejuvenated after a good nap, but, could it actually make me more tired?

It really depends on the person. Some people really benefit from a "power nap" as long as it is not too long. Aim for 7 hours of sleep a night. Recent studies showed something beneficial about getting 7 hours....I think they lived longer or something ......than people that got 8 or more or those that got less.

Most people can survive on 6-8 hours of sleep a day. I know that when I have a full night sleep and I have a really busy day, sometimes a nap helps you to go through the day feeling energised and able to cope with the pressures of your day. It cant hurt you and it quite possibly will help you to be more alert with your work.

My son takes Power Naps, 10 -15 minutes if he needs to. I have read by an M.D. that people who get by on minimal hours of sleep, are doing so because they just get used to it.

I don't power nap myself, I exercise if I get tired. It works for me, however I just crash when I get a couple of days off. Kick back, watch a good movie, mingle with my own people.

It also depends on your diet. Proteins are better eaten at night, than Carbs.
Secret to power is the mind set. Think healhy thoughts. It's a "Cando" kind of a thing. Sleep, which is when the Spirit and Body re-generate, are what keep you from Burn-out. Work it out on a daily basis.
As Bette Davis said, "fasten your seat belts, it's going to be a bumpy night." Also, overthinking burns more energy.

You don't have to sleep sometimes, just get flat, and breathe. :)

I find that a short (30 minute) nap in the afternoon rejuvenates me. A longer nap makes me more tired, though.

Best wishes and God bless.

A nap reduces the sleep hours without any harm. It is good.

Naps are good for you as long as it is only about 20 min. long, but it is not replacing the sleep you are not getting at nite.
