Tahoo answers is a web based application while IMS are computer based applications.They are not even close to the same.
A IM is used to communicate computer to computer,while a website is a place everyone can visit with their computer.
I suspect you do not know what a IM is or you would not be asking this question.

Nopes.
But you can download the latest Yahoo messenger 8.0 beta and get Yahoo! Answers as a plugin with which you can track your questions, answer questions, etc!! Its fun!
