This is a direct answer to the ***** ragzeus. Macedonia and everybody knows is todays Republic of Macedonia. The northern greeks are stubborn and dont admit it, if you ask anyone from southern greece they would say they dont care because the histoty of athens is more important to them, but the northern ones try to steal our history by stateing stupid facts that prove nothing, maybe they should read something written by someone other than a gtreek scholar that was taught the same!!!!! Listen, this goes to every greek that thinks he knows about Macedonia. Macedonia in ancient times was a region in the south of the balkans. The people were barbarians according to the greeks because they werent as refined and as advanced as they were. At those times the greeks hated the macedonians and the other way around. But then Philip II conquered the greek city states and made them obide his rule. Now, there is a dillema about what language the ancient macedonians spoke and etc. Explanations: The ancien t Macedonians had their own barbaric language but at that time the greek culture and language was very aristocratic and higly thought of, thats why Alexander the great accepted the greek language as the official one, but there are many proofs of this, such as: Today in afganistan, iran and other countries in the middle east, there are people that live in the mountains and are separated from other people and very different cultures than them. These people have blue eyes and do not look middle estern. These people speak are direct decendants of the ancient macedonians and have a languge that noone knows, but a study showed that their language has similar word and ghramatical similarities as the today macedonian one or the slavic, so thats a proof that the slavs didnt bring the language to the balkans but they accepted the one that was already here and that language was spoken by alexander the great when he adressed his army, as aristotel wrote. The greeks are now taught a hate history of macedonia and think that macedonia is greece becaude its in their todays country. Northern greece has taken by the greeks from macedonians during the balkan wars after ww1 and they made ethnical cleansing of the reagion and banished all proclaimed macedonians. (est. 200 000). TToday they dont aknowledge the presence of macedonians in northern greece because they are Faschists!!! Still the fight goes on and the subbornnes of greeksa goes on because the bigger countries in thge world dont get involved. They stole our country and say its their history........ when will this end, i know when the admit that macedonian and greek hisatory have nothing in common except geographical similarities. Long live the Republic of Macedonia, and i want the greeks to make arguments about the hiastory not just ( ohhh, macedonia is in greece today... bla bla bla). bye

"The Republic of Macedonia occupies the western half of the ancient Kingdom of Macedonia.
The part of the southern Balkan Peninsula traditionally known as Macedonia is bounded to the south by th Aegean Sea and the Aliakmon River; to the west by Lakes Prespa and Ohrid, the watershed west of the Crni Drim River, and the Shar Mountains; and to the north by the mountains of the Skopska Crna Gora and the watershed between the Morava and Vardar basins. The Pirin Mountains mark its eastern edge. Since 1913 this geographic and historical region has been divided between Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria, and only some 40 percent of its area is occupied by the independent state, MACEDONIA.
Skopje is the capital and the largest city of the Republic of Macedonia. It lies on the upper course of the Vardar river and is located on a major north - south Balkan route between Belgrade and Athens. The city of Skopje has been for the first time mentioned by Claudius Ptolomeius, under its ancient name of Skupi. In the 2nd century B.C. Skupi was founded by the Romans."

Macedon was the son of Zeus, according to Hesiod!
For more than 3,000 years, Macedonians, a Greek nation (like Ionians (Yunani), Dorians, Aeolians, Cretans, Thessalians, Peloponesseans, etc.) have fully participated and play a dynamic role in the matters in the region.
When the Romans took over and had their extended Empire, Macedonia was named a large part of the Greek Peninsula (called by the Ottomans Balkan), extending in the central part of the peninsula.
When the Christians successfully revolted against the Muslims, in 1821 and beginning of the 19th century, led by the Greeks, Ottomans were pushed away from most of the Greek Peninsula, the different nations were organized and fought. Macedonians were not a nation and took part with the different other nations, under influence!
In 1948, Stalin invited Tito and requested him to change the name of the southern region of Yugoslavia from Vardarska to Makedoniyia and promote the brainwash of the residents of the area that they are Slavs and Macedonians, in order the Slavs to look for exit to the Aegean Sea (Bialo More - White Sea).
This was "extreme, but non educated people "learn" that there is such "nation" and are tools of the international politics. So, they are suffering promoting the division between the people on the Greek Peninsula and the nations outside collect the outcome without even trying!

Dear Skopians, you must know that Greek people likes you because he likes Serb people and considers you Serbian cousins. After all we are homodoxe Christian Orthodox.Remember that when you face another Muslim revolution. I would suggest to stop all that Macedonian story since 40 per cent in Skopje is of Albanian origin.Do really Albanians accept to be called Macedonians. Are you going to make us crazy It would be better to create good relations and come and work here as Albanians,Bulgarians,Romanians do

How many times will you ask the same question? Do you expect a different answer for the same question? (Don’t forget to use English language!!)
The only Macedonia that exists is in Greece. {Entire north Greece is the province of Macedonia (in Greek “Mακεδονία” from Greek word "Makos" meaning length).
Macedon or Macedonia was the name of an ancient Greek kingdom (the birth place of Alexander the Great) in the northern-most part of ancient Greece, bordering the kingdom of Epirus on the west and the region of Thrace to the east.
Alexander the Great build a gigantic Greek empire that expanded from Greece all the way to India! Do not confuse real Macedonia in Greece with a small state that emerged from Yugoslavia. That small state is called Republic of Makedonija {Republika Makedonja is officially translated by UN (and officially recognized by UN and European Union) as Former Ygoslavic Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).
United Nations have forced that small state to use the temporary name FYROM and negotiate with Greece for an international name that it will not violate the international law! That small state instead of using its name its using the Greek name Macedonia or Makedonia and although the last 50 years the inhabitans of that state were called Makedonijans or Slav Macedonians in recent years they refer to themselves only as Macedonians conveniently forgetting to say that they are Slavs.
Oficially the government clearly states that they are not related to real Macedonians in Greece and that they are aSlavic state.
Here are the most official statements:
The first President of FYROM (Slav Macedonia), Kiro Gligorov said: “We are Slavs who came to this area in the sixth century ... we are not descendants of the ancient Macedonians" (Foreign Information Service Daily Report, Eastern Europe, February 26, 1992, p. 35). Also, Mr Gligorov declared: "We are Macedonians but we are Slav Macedonians. That's who we are! We have no connection to Alexander the Greek and his Macedonia… Our ancestors came here in the 5th and 6th century" (Toronto Star, March 15, 1992).
On 22 January 1999, Ambassador of the FYROM to USA, Ljubica Achevska gave a speech on the present situation in the Balkans. In answering questions at the end of her speech Mrs. Acevshka said: "We do not claim to be descendants of Alexander the Great … Greece is Macedonia’s second largest trading partner, and its number one investor. Instead of opting for war, we have chosen the mediation of the United Nations, with talks on the ambassadorial level under Mr. Vance and Mr. Nemitz." In reply to another question about the ethnic origin of the people of FYROM, Ambassador Achevska stated that "we are Slavs and we speak a Slav language”.
On 24 February 1999, in an interview with the Ottawa Citizen, Gyordan Veselinov, FYROM'S Ambassador to Canada, admitted, "We are not related to the northern Greeks who produced leaders like Philip and Alexander the Great. We are a Slav people and our language is closely related to Bulgarian." He also commented, “There is some confusion about the identity of the people of my country".
Moreover, the Foreign Minister of the FYROM, Slobodan Casule, in an interview to Utrinski Vesnik of Skopje on December 29, 2001, said that he mentioned to the Foreign Minister of Bulgaria, Solomon Pasi, that they "belong to the same Slav people.”
I hope I've helped you to learn something as you obviously don’t know anything about Macedonia!
(Every time you use the name Macedonia I will always make clear to people that don't know that there is a difference between real Macedonia in Greece and Slavic Macedonia! or Makedonija)
