Peripheral vision is a part of vision that occurs outside the very center of gaze. There is a broad set of non-central points in the field of view that is included in the notion of peripheral vision. "Far peripheral" vision exists at the edges of the field of view, "mid-perpheral" vision exists in the middle of the field of view, and "near-peripheral", sometimes referred to as "paracentral" vision, exists adjacent to the center of gaze[citation needed].
In basketball, peripheral vision:
A skilled player can dribble without watching the ball, using the dribbling motion or peripheral vision to keep track of the ball's location. By not having to focus on the ball, a player can look for teammates or scoring opportunities, as well as avoid the danger of someone stealing the ball from them.

I agree with the first guy but i think your peripheral vision is both a curse and a gift. I mean u can use it to an advantage, you can be all-seeing and notice more things. Like an emergency now, ur walking on the road, what if a car nearly hit you, ur vision can help you, i wish i had something like that. Dude you should learn to controll it, dont get distracted, train on it, work on it and soon u'll notice it as a gift
