I personally love the new song "not ready to be nice" its amazing and brave of them to still stand up for what they believe in. I don't think it was right the way our country acted towards them. They were shunned for the very thing our country was built on, and thats free speach. I also have read that alot of people are embrassed for hating them so much for something that turned out to be true about our president. I think the song has a great message though, talking of how they can forgive the way they were treated but they wont forget and how they'll never be sorry for what they've said, that they can still sleep at night for not backing down in what they believe

I think they should say whatever they please! Sadly, a LOT of renecks are BIGtime Bush supporters and we all know that only the wealthy and the stupid support whatever MESS Bush is making. No good reason why any working-class or poor people would like Bush unless they were DUMB. Bush "does his best" to SCREW the poor and hard-workers to help keep the upper-class WEALTHY, and he DOESN'T care about the poor. Entertainers who make political statements often get shot down. I HOPE they offended him. America can be SO MUCH BETTER with someone else in office.

The problem with the chicks is that they did not have the guts to make their statements on US soil, they chose to do it in a foregin country where they thought there would be no backlash.Well, there is backlash and well deserved! You do not bite the hand that feeds you & the dixie chicks took a big bite. They are cancelling concerts all over the country, can you honestly tell me that the chicks would rather have principle than cash, I think not. As far as True about our President, all they said was that they were embarrased to be from the same state, so what is true about that? You sound like a young uninformed girl that takes too much of what is said by "pop" stars as truth. Love you country hon, it's the best thing in the world & happy 4th of July!

They are entitled to their opinions, But when they express their negative opinions of their own presidential leader, to another country is an act of treasom.
The same can be held as a family fued, the family can say what they want about it's members. But let somebody else, outside of the family say the same thing, it's treasom.
The Dixie Chicks live and breed in this country, they reap the benefits, and money that this country has to offer, For them to mock a system that provides well for them is non-graditude.

You know what.... I STILL LOVE THE DIXIE CHICKS!!!!!! yeah I said it, and I'm not a terrorist, I'm a teen! But I know what happened, and I'm not stupid. But President Bush is. And I'm allowed to say that, hello freedom of speech? I know there are limits, and that you should be civil, but I am. I totally understand how to be a good citizen and how to act towards other people in this country. But Americans (and I am one) are such an opionated people....and loud mouthed at that!! We don't notice that it's not about us, or just the USA, it's about the world. September 11th woke us up, and opened our eyes, but our eyes didn't stay open. They're shut again, and the same thing just keeps happening. I love the Dixie Chicks and their music, and you guys can cuss me all you want. Have a nice day, and shut your mouths for once.
Thanks for posting this question!

I have to agree. Their cd is amazing. I'm not a big fan of country but I do like them. I'm Not Ready To Make Nice sends a good message. I didn't dislike them because they spoke out about our president. Everyone has the right to freedom of speech and they chose to use it. I give them props. If only more people could be that brave! Myself included.

I think they overestimated their appeal to Adult Contempory Radio. They made a concious decision to snub Country Radio and try to go mainstream. The only problem is that the songs that made them popular in Adult Contrempory were already hits in Country and then crossed over.

Plus their new album doesn't have any fun songs. Some of my favorite songs of theirs were Sin Wagon and Goodbye Earl. There's nothing like that on this CD.

As for their politics, I really couldn't care less.

I think that they are wonderful and always have been. They are real and honest. I will ALWAYS support the troops, but not George W. Bush. Our military has always fought for our rights as citizens. The 4 freedoms granted by the first ammendment are what make America great. When our government censors our speech, that is when this 230 year old experiment in democracy will have truly failed.

I bought their CD to show my support. They are Americans too and are entitled to free speech. And they are not the only people in this country who have those feelings about our president, they just happen to have a public forum to air them. I admire their bravery. Anyone who challenges is branded unpatriotic. People standing up for what they believe is how changes come about.
