As far as i know here in pa.. we can't have m80's m800's which i got :-) (shhh don't tell anyone.) or them ones that go flying in the air like at the shows.. you need a permit for them.( i got them 2 ) I think bottle rockets are illegal also.. not to sure.. .but other then that i think we can have just about anything.. well i get everything i want because.
i go to Tennessee every year to visit a friend and pick up some great fireworks there right by the North C. border..lol i get the ones that they have at the firework shows and all kinds of stuff that i can not find here...
Anyway if they stopped us from having fireworks that would suck because all we are doing is celebrating!
Seriously though if people would be more careful and not take there arms and hands off every year and keep them away from there kids they would not have to make them illegal. the guy that lives across the street from me lost his arm a couple years ago from a m800.. people like him is what makes it look bad!

Fireworks are not illegal!!!!
ok.. in some places... it is illegal to purchase or possess fireworks WITHOUT A PERMIT... but they are still legal if you have the proper permits.... like the ones possessed by the people who put on fantastic fireworks displays in major cities.
now... the reason for the laws.. requiring a permit to purchase or possess.. is because too many people have gotten hurt.. or damaged other people's property by misuse of fireworks.. the laws are for the safety of the general public...
so.. if you want fireworks.. go to school and learn about them.. and get a permit to have them!!

It's pointless 'cause people are gonna do it anyway. Here in New York it is half-past midnight on the Fourth and people are STILL out shooting off fireworks - and even sparklers are illegal here. With all the friggin' drunks out on the highways, I don't want the cops mucking around chasing ladyfinger outlaws!

Privileges are not rights. No one has a right to drive, they get government permission. In civilized countries, no one has the right to own a gun, they have to get government permission. And no one should have a right to own fireworks, they should need permission.
Or are you suggesting that banning fireworks will prevent people from voting and having free speech?

Most fireworks are already illegal.
However, most police officers don't give out tickets for them unless you're blowing them off very late at night.
Of course, most have kids blowing them off at home, so how could they give tickets out for them? :P

No it is not wrong when safety is in concern. There needs to be regulations on them. There are many injuries and worse that come from them.
