Video games bore me, the only cars I like are vintage hot rods and any sport involving a gun usually involves sitting in a muggy hole in the ground waiting for hours for nothing. So if all that's considered "fun", I guess I'm glad it's not marketed towards me. I'd rather travel, shop, go see live music, do makeup/hair, dress up or have sex...luckily all of that is marketed towards women these days

Firstly, its not true in general, that products in the range of video games, cars or any sport involving guns, are marketed towards men.. Secondly - in the original context, there's not that many of us women who buys her own stuff.. its usually the father, the brother, the husband or the boyfriend that would purchase FOR their women.. and obviously the ad agencies prefer to target the buyers because thats where the money is. The rest of us women who run households single handedly are quite comfortable with any sort of ad as long as the product is attractive enough.

The purpose of marketing is to sell a product to the group they feel will be most willing to spend their money for it. You aren't likely to see Lancome makeup pitched to men (at least not in the U.S.). Most video games are purchased by males, as are many other things. Check out ads in gun magazine geared towards women and you'll see plenty of marketing of guns and accessories pitched towards women. (Plus recipes for the game they bring down with that new scope being featured in the ad.) It's just advertisers putting their ad dollars where it will get them the most bang for their buck.

That is changing. Many things are being marketed just for women. Skis are being made just for women and they are some of the fastest selling. Guns are being made just for women.
But from experiance, between me and my wife I am the one who likes toys. While she would rather spend money on makeup clothing shoes. I am the one buying guns and skis.
I think it is this way in general and the companies are following the money. As more women get into skiing, rock climbing, etc. You will see more maketing toward them.

because the majority opf participants are men. of course there are women who do/play those things, but there are a lot more guys, so marketing towards a smaller population just doesnt make sense economically. then again, if you had the chance, how would you change it?

Men where first created to protect and be dangerous and tough, men had consider women as frigile and weak and consider us there weaker kind, could`nt handle thing without men. They only think that because they think that since they were created first, they can rule over anything.

You WANT to use a gun?? Stay on your side of town.
As far as marketing goes, who cares? Do what you like and don't give a fat rat's a** what other people think.
