Three kids, eh? I thought one was hard enough. First of all, you can't just watch what you eat or do crash diets. It took time to gain the weight, so it'll take time to lose the weight. 50 pounds is alot and can easily overwhelm you. So here are some pointers that have helped me and some friends lose weight.
1. Try a smaller goal. Says 10 pounds for an example and work toward. once you get there, set another. Eventually you'll get down to what you want. But don't go to extremes. you need a HEALTHY weight goal. (Talk to your doctor, to find what is a healthy weight for you)
2. Eliminate most unhealthy food from not just your diet but the house. Not all but most of it, that way your not as tempted to eat it. It will also be alot healthier for your family too!
3. Try eating more but smaller meals a day. And eating snacks, such as carrots, celery sticks, apples, ect.
4. Cut down on pastas and breads! they really add the weight. Instead, substitute rice in to the meals. It's a great filler and can go with anything. Not to mention, It won't put weight on.
5. Exercise! Get in on what your kids are doing. Play soccer with them, tag, basketball, anything active, not video games ;) Even if it is 20 minutes a day it'll help.
And most importantly be happy with you. You are the person you are inside, nothing will change that.

Hi! Last month I was 217 lbs overweight. I joined Optifast a program offered at our hospital. Now I've lost 40 lbs. And so has my husband in the same time. In high school I was a model who could eat anything and never gained. The reason I went to a Clinic for weight is because I tried every diet and succeeded. Then I gained it all back and more. This yo yo diet of my had me weighing 392 Lbs. I couldn't walk without pain. I test drive trucks for G.M. and have 3 years before I can retire. I'm the only person in my family able to work. So get help before you get to be me. A book that has helped me a lot is( Life Is Hard Food Is Easy)by Linda Spangle, RN,MA Get this book make it your new bible for handling food. Another book that was suggested to me is (You Can Heal Your Life) by Louise L. Hay. She is a new age person so I was a reluctant reader. But she is right on as to helping me better understand what I need to do. Good Luck on the new learning experience you are about to take. If you don't do it for yourself do it for your little ones. Your healthy choices will be theirs also. Best of Luck

If u watch what u eat and practice portion control, and eat at regular times during the day, and ur hungry, it's cuz ur body's not used to this, and it'll take a while(I'm assuming ur used to eating more food and differnt food than what u do now)? Then, u need to excercise. Take ur kids to the gym with u, they have kiddy areas right? Or hire a sitter, or hey, do crunches or situps, pushups, jumping jacks, get ur kids in on the actions too. Hydrate urself wth water or something with electrolytes. U can still eat sensibly and eat tastey things, just work out too, and u'll feel better about urself, especially when ur kids go, wow mommy, u look great! Ur not pitiful, just a little lost on what u should do.

If you don't care what you look like, then you'll eventually get back to the old ways of eating.
I Love food and junk! I'm overweight and have cholestorol through the roof!
Idon't care because I'm in a relationship and have quit smoking (a miracle for me).
I'd say that if you want to stop the bad cycle with the eating to change little by little. Also, feel better about yourself evry time that you Don't eat a beloved thing.
Good luck! :)

I have felt that way many times. Don't focus on losing weight. Just focus on making better food choices for yourself. Don't starve yourself. Eat things that are good for you. That way if you over eat, you are eating things that are healthy and will not put on much weight. Exercising is important, but it doesn't have to be strenuous. It could be playing with your kids, parking your car further out in the parking lot, take the stairs instead of the elevator, walking your dog, etc. It's all about making healthier choices to fit your lifestyle.

Don't get too frustrated as I have trouble losing weight too! Try to lay off the sweets and cut down a little on foods high in starches. Take brisk 30 minute walks everyday and it will start coming off. Take care of yourself Mom! I hope this helps you some!

Instead of saying you need to lose 50 lbs. Why not say, I need to lose 10 lbs. Then when it is off, say I need to lose 10 lbs. That way it doesnt seem like such an overwhelming task! Good luck!
