Ok my mom thinks that since my choice in music has changed that my moods have too. She thinks i was happier when i listened to pop and stuff like that. But now i listen to rock and stuff like it my mom thinks that my moods have changed. She says i seems to be more emotional and upset and not so happy. But i don't agree with her. Cuz maybe she is just starting to see the real me. like how i always felt. cuz now im not afraid to tell her what i think or how i feel. But before when i was younger i didn't tell her my thoughts cuz i was always afraid of how she would think of me. I don't think my music has changed me i think im just showing who i am more. what do you think? can my music have changed me?

your music hasnt changed you. like everyones saying your just getting older and more mature and probably just starting to respect and take music more seriously. and like that other guy said just tell mom to shut up. you are who you are. in some occasions you can change because of the people you hang around or the places you go on a daily routine but from the way you make it sound its not one of those occasions. my mother did the same thing but she tried everything in her will to keep me away from bad music and clothes and people so now i just dont tell her anything at all to keep her from critisizing me. i dont need to deal with her opinions so i just chose not to by keeping my business to myself. everyones their own person and dont let anyone make you think any different.

No music can change the person it's like the money thing money does not make the man the man makes the money in your case your mom does not comprehend what it is exactly that you're going through cause like you said you don't tell her much about you anymore. Cause of that she has had to look at the outside influences of why you are how you are now and to the best of her limited knowledge she felt that your music choice was a part of that change as we develop and become more aware of the choices open to us we begin to change and so do our characteristics you should really sit down with your mom and try to find some common ground to play upon and spend time with each other then she'll gain insight and you will gain a life long friend feel me?

The music did not change you.You changed and your choice of music changed with you.To blame the music for your mood changes or anything for that matter is completely rediculous.I answered something similar to this before. We control what we listen to.We listen to sad songs when we want to be sad and happy songs when we want to be happy. This kind of closed minded thinking has given music, particularly rock and rap a bad name.Or at least it tried to.You may be to young to remember, but many artists have been put on trial for their song lyrics or content by parents that did NOT take accountability for their childs behavior.Again music is a reflection of US not the other way around. The courts proved this but its still not settled in a lot of parents eyes.If you are going through puberty, which Im guessing you might be,That alone is a reason for your change in mood, taste, everything.Your mother went through it,she should know it.Unfortunately, some parents tend to forget they were teenagers once.

I'm 20 and i listened to Metallica from 13 to 16. my mom was very democratic about that so she didn't think that it'd change my moods or personality. If she's really upset just don't be harsh and rude and talk to her. They were also like this when they were younger! Good luck! ))

your mom is right. Music alters moods and thats fact

For the same reason that if you are not happy but you force your self to smile it will make you happy. try it some time.

than also put in something heavy and hard core a listen to it a while, then put in some upbeat happy pop. You will feel the difference inside yourself.

1. She's your mom and has known you since DAY 1!
2. Music might change people, I guess! But what is sure is that what you listen to might reflect your inner self at a precise moment. In this respect, I do agree with her.
You'd better think it over, and ask yourself what has been the matter lately, instead of dismissing her point of view!

she just doesnt like what you listen too. cause thats a crockaSh*t . music cant change you. ever since i was 5 years old i was really dark and kinda strange, when i was 7 or 8 i started listening to hard rock but it just wasnt dark enough, now i listen to black metal and folk metal. of cours everyone says the same things to me that they do to you but its just not true, im a really upbeat and happy person, i just like dark stuff. most people dont fit the mold and in the eyes of those who do fit , your a strange person....whatever when it comes to music your parents have no right to tell you what you can and cant listen too.

It has nothing to do with your choice of music.
Just let your mom know that in the past you weren't ready to share your feelings with her because you weren't sure of them yourself.
And now you really want to share lots with her, good and bad, and that you need her to just listen and not try to solve all of your problems.
I feel like you want to have your mom in your life more now, and it makes me happy because I lost my mom and would love to have another chat about everything and nothing with her.

P.S. No matter what you say, your mom will always think you are the best daughter in the whole world and you ARE, even if she has four other daughters.

It's all about mothers and daughters.
