Gay Pride? What about straight pride?

What about straight pride? Why is there "Gay pride parades" and not Straight pride parades? Why is it that if I'm straight and proud of it then that makes me prejudice? And why the heck did the gays have to take the rainbow and turn them into their “symbol”? The gay symbol? Is there a symbol for straight people?

If anyone has ever seen a bumper sticker with something to the effect of "straight pride" please let me know! I'll buy one and put it on my bumper!

Personally, I don't care if you pronounce your "Straight Pride", nor would most other gay people. I think the problem is that most straight people don't feel enough pride to celebrate it. Gays have had to endure so much prejudice for most of their lives, when they finally find a place that they are accepted, i.e. the gay community, they are immensely Proud. And about the rainbow, it's a symbol of the gay community because it represents the whole spectrum of sexuality, including heterosexuality. However, if you were to use it most people would assume you were gay. I can't really think of anything that would represent straight pride, so you're on your own on that one.

Straight people don't need it because we aren't the minority and we don't have to fight for equal rights! Gay pride is about getting the same rights as straight people! And why are you so upset that gays have the rainbow symbol? I mean get over it!

I also HATE seeing the symbol of the rainbow so perverted to mean something totally different. When God created the rainbow, he didn't have the gays in mind.

I'm straight myself. But I can understant where they're are coming from.

Being Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, whatever, has been Taboo for so long. If someone admitted to any of the above, they would be exiled from the society.

But now, they are free to love who they choose and I suppose they want to shout it from the roof tops for all their gay, lesbian ancestors to hear.

I do however, get sick of the way it's continuously pushed into our faces. I'm proud to be straight, damn proud, and if I want to run down the street in shiny sequins to prove it, then I damn well would!!! But It's not a big deal to me, so I'll leave my sequinned number at home.
