Will be in Cleveland 1st week of August, looking for something a little interesting besides the obvious trip to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Wow. Don't listen to these people. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is great. There are several museums near it. There is an old military submarine you can tour. The Metropolitan Parks system is phenomenal. The old Terminal Tower downtown is a great restaurant and shopping area. If you still have time after this, then drive to Sandusky and go to Cedar Point.

Cleveland has nothing to do. Visit the surrounding areas for a relaxing visit. But if you insist, take in a ballgame at Jacobs Field or Fatfish Blue for drinks. This town likes any cultural taste that's why it's called the Mistake by the Lake. If you notice everyone is telling you to drive an hour out of Cleveland to Cedar Point or Football Hall of Fame in Canton. Apple Blossom has summertime concerts. The IX Center near Berea has some events sometimes. The Cleveland Browns will probably have practice at their field in Berea. Go to I-71 south from downtown and get off at the Berea exit. Other than that, the place sucks.

Go to my original hometown of NYC and really enjoy yourself.

I lived in Columbus too and they have more going on there.

Former Clevelander who hated the place.

Best thing to do while in Cleveland is to drive two and a half hours to Columbus.

Be prepared: I have yet to hear 1% of the visitors to say they liked the R&R Hall of Fame. We had a group of German students visiting our school last year. About fifty people (students and host families) went. One said it was "ok", the rest were really disappointed. Biggest complaint: overrated for the price.

Check to see if anything is going on at the I-X Center.

Cedar Point is also a great attraction. Weekdays are best to avoid long waits in line. Expensive, but military discounts on admission with ID.

Pro Football Hall Of Fame in Canton.

Amish country about an hour or so south in Holmes County. Nice relaxing way to spend a day. Closed Sunday. (Wilmot, Berlin, Sugarcreek, etc.)

The absolute best thing that you can do there is go to Sandusky and Cedar Point. It is about 1 hr away toward Toledo. Cedar Point has 9-10 very good roller coasters...nothing like it in the US. It is right on Lake Erie and guarantees a good day for all.

If you ave a sweet tooth, go to MALLEY's in Lakewood! Yummmmmmy! They have the history musuem & six flags / geauga lake (which ever it's called now) open. Cedar Point is the BEST place for roller coasters, there is shopping in Amish country, there is that Alice Cooper resturant, or you could relax in the metro park (rocky river has the best one!). I miss my swings at the park! It was the one near the cement water fountain! (I don't live in ohio any more)

Try west side market, or visit the cleveland cinematheque or the cedar lee for some very cool indie movie-showings every night. If you like being outside you can visit edgewater park.

Depends on what you'd like to do...

There's always an Indians game if you like baseball.
House of Blues
There's a day's worth of shopping downtown
Restaurants -- John Q's, Marbella, Chop House Brewery
Or just pick up a Scene Magazine (its free) and you're bound to find something interesting.
