Well, first time I "met" him, he was 11 and I was 8. My friends and I were playing in the cemetery boathouse, and he and his friends wanted to play there, so they chased us off. He pushed me off the upper balcony and I landed in the muck below (the lake was low but the mud was very soft). We did not know who each other was at the time though. No sparks then except for angry ones - and I ended up in big trouble when I went home.
Fast forward to a new neighborhood we both moved into - he says I followed him - and about 8 years later. I was walking a friend's collie while she was on vacation. I noticed a guy trying to push his car out of the driveway, so I just hooked the collie to his mailbox and helped without asking. He rolled it down the street and popped the clutch to start it, and then drove by four times smiling, waving and honking at me while I continued on. I thought he was kind of cute at that time, but that drive-by stuff was a bit goofy. My friend came back from vacation the next day so the collie went home (she lived in a different subdivision). Little did I know that the next day that guy was looking for the girl with the long blonde hair who owned a collie! I did not walk the dog around the subdivision anymore, and about 2 weeks later he moved to New Orleans to live with his older sister for almost a year. I think there were sparks as we both thought about each other a lot (we found out years later), but by the time I went walking up that street again he had moved to his sister's.
Fast forward again to a year later... my best friend was setting my hair in soup cans - we would use them with bobby pins for big fluffy curls instead of curlers - for a double date that night (blind date for me), and this guy came to the door with a letter for her from his buddy in the navy. He would mail several in one envelope, and then they got distributed. She insisted I meet this guy, and there I was in soup cans! He stuck around and talked awhile, then picked out the movie that I was going to see with some other guy. I was not really thrilled with him for some reason even though he was kind of cute, but he must have felt sparks because he found out where I lived from my friend, and then hung around my house for weeks! I was not dating anyone in particular at the time, but my friends kept setting me up on dates. Every time a date came to get me, there he was, and I would say he was a cousin or something. He even started visiting my parents! They would try to help out by keeping him busy if I was being picked up. Once I went on a date barefooted as my shoes were in the kitchen where he was sitting. What a hassle, and I hated him for a bit, but for some reason that hate mellowed and he sort of grew on me. We went out on a date about 7 weeks after he had begun hanging around and making a nuisance of himself. My parents were relieved I think, as they were tired of entertaining the guy but knew he was smitten. We dated for 2 years, and have been married for 34 years. My flint took a bit longer to spark than his did.
Oh, the boathouse incident... I was telling him about it for some reason, and he finished the story. That was how I found out it was him, and it was after we were married. I don't know if I would have dated him at all if I had known about that before. :-)

Okay so we are not married yet but will be soon. I met my fiance on my 16th birthday on the front steps of my house. He was my brother's friend that came over to keep my brother company during my birthday party. He was attracted to me right away, but I was not attracted to him until several months down the road. However one of the first things I said to him when I met him was "I feel like I already know you." I actually knew nothing about him at the time and we slowly discovered that we had several things in common. Now we have been together for 3 1/2 years, and engaged for 10 months.

Yes it was an instant attraction. I was going to a party to be set up with someone else, and he was going to be set up with someone else also, but we met and started talking and the rest is history. We've been together ten years this month! and still very much in love! Our first kiss was so breath taking, and they still are. I feel so lucky! Love at first site does exist!

Blind date set up. Talked on the phone twice-went out, I thought he was cute but so very quiet. He had me by the third date and I was head ova heels I tell ya. That was nine yrs ago and we've now been married five yrs and have kid #4 on the way. He is a man worthy of respect for sure.

You can be instantly attracted to someone but that does not mean you will marry them. There are so many other factors to think about other than just attraction like does he treat you right, will your families get along, does he leave the toilet seat up and so on.

I worked with her. Not really instant, but she did grow on me pretty quick. If you ask her though, I think she would tell you instant. I think the woman always knows first.
