If the gas stations are in the U.S., it's a natural tendency. Many American-owned businesses do, and most gas stations are owned by individuals.

many gas stations have a stigma of being owned by people of middle eastern nationality. We even had an issue in our town of one speaking bad to the wife of a national guard member.
They were picketed till the employee who did this was fired.
So many do this as a sign that they support America or to give the impression they are American owned ( a sign you used to see on alot of motels)

nobody is in business to lose money. that's why stores have sales around every idiotic notion of some vague idea of some kind of holiday, even the fake ones like mlk day or christmas.

because they are so happy that the govt. is let them to rise gas prices whenver they want to......they just saying hi to all in whashington dc
