That's because 12 year old kids aren't allowed to vote multiple times for president.

Didn't know that but doesn't surprise me.
Perhaps if the next election Americans could just vote by texting "A" or "B" they'd be able to stay in their armchair and would get a reasonable voting turnout. But what happens if 51% of the population has their mobile on the table a metre away... I guess the same problem.. Low voter turn outs and a government crippled by poor decisions and global disgust...
Tricky problem...

Not only that, the correct statistic is that there were more votes than any Presidential candidate received. In other words, there were more votes for American Idol contestants than for President Bush 2.0, but he and Kerry combined had more votes than American Idol (by far!).
Vote in Presidential elections (and the others, too)!

No, that's wrong...there were more VOTES, not voters. There is no limit to the number of votes one person can make so you have people making tons of "Call in votes." Also, there is no age limit so my 12 year old sister could call in and I don't believe we want her to vote for President.

yes and the reason is because it's a fair vote, and there are actually choices besides the lesser of 2 evils.

What an embarrassing statistic! Americans, please be alarmed by this and get out and vote in 2008.
