definitely something you dont mind getting dirty...
depends on where you're playing too...
if you are like my friends and I, we play in fields and in the woods...
i usually wear a tank, t-shirt and a hoodie of some sort and some pants made of thick material. Are you familiar with Carharts? They work great. I am a female so I prefer to protect my chest by wearing a pair pf carhart overalls so that the chest flap covers my chest on top of my shirts. Basically anything that is completely covering, trashable and hopefully thick as paintballs are messy and painful...hope that helps.

Canvas pants and jacket if possible, it hurt when the ball hit you, and the paint does not come out.
